What does everyone use for an On30 turntable? I've got a Walthers HO scale 90' turntable - can it use it in On30 and have it look like it belongs? Modifications?

Firebox Models sells kits to 'upgrade' walthers turntables into narrow gauge period. I have not tried them myself, but I'm planning to give the HOn3 version a go in the not too distant future.

There are a couple of folks who manufacture turntables. I was going to link one, but that web site is down.

Kitwood Hill Models sells some On30 kits. I have the 9 inch one on my layout. I have heard rumors that he will be coming out with a 12 inch turntable in the near future. Just keep an eye on the exchange rate before ordering.

I'll be running only 4-6-0s, so I need a longer table. The PECO one fits that just barely and I loike the looks of the kit, so I have one in the box I need to get to building once the layout is under consturction.
I have also seen two local guys who used the Atlas HO table for the base of a larger scale one. One guy just used it for the electrical connections. He built his own bridge over top of it and put a sheet of plastic over the main part of the table, so it look like a convention bridge on a pivot. He removed the interrupting gears so you could rotate it by hand. I bought a new one of these at a recent show to do exactly that for the other table I'll be needing. Shouldn't be too tough to build a bridge for that.

If anyone wants to do it yourself here is an On30 turntable made to look 50 years old. Not store bought but it cost only $25 to build maybe.

I had the same turntable you have. I converted it to On30 by removing the top deck, then replacing it with On30 ties. It worked and looked just fine. But I wanted something more....So, I built two gallows turntables following the article in On30 Annual. Here is a link...

Here is a pic of one of the two I built for the Horace and William Creek R.R. It is not mounted yet, but this shows the detail.
