I'm looking at On30 Track. I think I like the Micro Engineering flex & turnouts the best. I like their ties/spacing, etc. looks like a logging track to me. I saw the peco, any others? (other than standard Atlas HO, Kato HO, etc) And is MicroMark the only place that sells the Micro Engineering flex & turnouts? or somewhere else? better prices? I was thinking, if I wanted a Wye, or longer turnout, I could use an Atlas code 83 and "bury that section of track in the dirt" to hide the different/smaller ties. or replace some/most of the HO ties and bury the rest. not sure I want to scratch build.
I don't know about price sources. My local hobby shop always has a few sticks of ME flex in stock. As well as a pair or two of switches. All code 80. They are full price retail. However, every Thursday, they have a 20% off on all non-sale train stuff. Switches- Another source is LITCo. Have never seen any up close. But all i have heard, is good words. So,.... Boxcab E50
Can't really say. I see a lot of On30 track come up on the Bay (I think I have even seen a Y???). I have decided to go the cheapskate route and simply use HO track even though the ties are too close and too short.
Here is the Micro engineering On30 Track. a nice comparo photo of HO & On30 track. http://www.ares-server.com/Ares/Ares.asp?MerchantID=RET01229&Action=Catalog&Type=Product&ID=83443
probably more than atlas c83. because it is special and nicer looking, and also because made by micro engineering. it is sold as: 6 curvable (flex track) 36 inch-long pieces for $41.50 but buy 3 or more $36.95 ea. Buying 3 six packs at a time, each 36" piece of flex is $6.16 ea.
Quite a bit more for the ME On30 c83. Depending upon list priced, or discounter, somewhere between double and triple the cost. My LHS gets $3.50 each stick of Atlas HO. And $6.95 for the the On30 by ME. However, after comparing the two side by side, appearance of the ME is so obviously superior... I take advantage of their weekly discount day. Boxcab E50
