So I was out railfanning a few weekends ago, burning up some film. Just north of the intermodal yard, I came across 8 BNSF units preparing to charge up the Peavine with a stack train. Who could resist warbonnet #777? Anyway, on the point was BNSF #5228, and parked on the ROW were three old-timers (automobiles, I mean!). One of the cars is just off-frame. I thought to myself, "OOooh, those guys should NOT be parked where they are". Seconds after I snapped this pic, the RR security force swooped in, and I could see from all the arm flapping and pointing that they were not at all happy. I'll never forget the sound of those clattering old cars as they slowly drove away, making much more noise than the drone of eight BNSF motors collectively!
Nice to see those cars. Not a side by side view we'd really expect to capture. Did they slip through a crack in space/time? Or is it the other way around- BNSF at the wrong moment in history? Boxcab E50
For a moment, I thought that was Bonnie and Clyde's car in the front, and that they had stopped the train for financial gain. But then I came back to reality....reluctantly
