Evening All, The Santa Fe depot in Fresno, CA is in the middle of a 5.5 million dollar refit. The depot was bought by the City in 2002 from the BNSF. Because it was on the National Historic list it could not be torn down. There is a great piece on the depot in todays issue of the Fresno Bee. (www.fresnobee.com) It should be ready for Amtrak to move in sometime in November of this year. Just before the holiday travel starts. Its nice to see another depot saved from the wreckers ball. Anywhere! You bet. As a fan of the North American RR depot, I always am extremely unhappy when another one is lost. This time it's good news! Boxcab E50
When Denver start putting in their RTD Light Rail, many of the old depots where shifted around rather than torn down including some put into us again while other sit off out of the way now.he RTD Light Rail runs along the BNSF on the south side of town which is what help save this station too.
it's good to see somebody in government is using some sense. Using history while preserving it. a great way to go.
