The MP oil tender is small for a 2-8-8-2. Some of the B&O's 2-8-8-0s did have stubby coal Vanderbilts, though. If you want an oil tender that is a closer match to a locomotive of that size, you might consider the oil tender that goes behind the B-mann ATSF 4-8-4. It is a box oil tender. If you can find an older one, it is electrically live on one pole, just like the coal tenders on the C-C/RR. They even have a live drawbar similar to the C-C/RR. I might have an old live one, somewhere, but I would have to look. The other option would be to remove the coal load from the RR tender and replace it with a deck for an oil bunker. I have done this with both the RR Vanderbilt and six axle box coal tender. It is not difficult. An MT truck pin and some putty are good for an oil hatch. You can use various types of wire for railings and piping.
