The N layout I'm building (shortline) has room for only one hidden staging, or fiddle, track. I had planned two but what's on paper and what's reality didn't match. The layout base is two tables in an L shape. There are no drawers. The question: What ideas do you have for a small fiddle yard that's off the layout? Next to the layout is a small bookcase, the top of which could hold two or three tracks of cars. The only other alternative, one that I will use, is to store my rolling stock and locos in a three-drawer plastic filing cabinet. The bookcase would work better, I believe, but I'm concerned about dust collecting.

    Thanks for your suggestions.

I two sets of shelves into the base of my layout. Each shelf unit has 7 shelves. My train room doesn't have much of a dust problem. A friend built drawers into the base of his layout. Works great.
