I have purchased some Oddball decals and was wondering if any one has had experience with them?

How well do they go on, clarity, finish etc.

    TIA

mick i purchased about $75 from him about a month and a half ago and have used several sets of them already. they are awesome, they do tend to bend over themselves very easily, however if you get some microscale liquid decal film and brush over them lightly it helps a bunch to keep this from happening. these decals blend into the model and the paint very nicely and you cannot even tell where the decal film is after you put either a clear flat or gloss finish over the decal. you will need to spray a light gloss finish over the model before decalling then go over after decalling. tom recommends using half walthers solvaset and half water to snug them onto model, i have found that micrscale microsol works just as well. these are printed with alps and do tend to lose ink easily if not coated with liquid decal film first. these finish out very crisp and very clear, i think you will like the results! i am about to go in with another $75 order next week as he has more mopac and "ODDBALL" decals than i have seen and good price. also just a hint if you haven't tried to is to take a magic marker and go over the back of the decal paper where the white decals are and that way they show up easier since these are very small. hope this helps and hope you get great results. mitch

Yep, Mick, got mine back last month. As said, very thin decal film used.
I do strongly suggest you give them a coat of MicroScale's Liquid decal film before using. The ALPS printed sheets tend to lose the print when being positioned, and Solvaset will cause havok with them if used straight. Tom suggests cutting the Solvaset 50/50 with water.
A coating of LDF will allow the decal to be moved around easily without undue damage to the lettering and makes them tougher to use with straight Solvaset. Even with this done, they snug down beautifully and disappear very well.
They apparently have no problems with MicroScale's setting solutions straight from the pack.

You should have mentioned this Tuesday night. ;)
    BTW, Greg did call.

I also have bought a lot of Oddballs decals he does a lot of the Katy (Thanks Tom) and I have had no problems with any of the N-scale ones I use or the HO I used to use. So follow what these fellows have said and you to can have great cars using Oddballs decals.

I just found their site and am amazed at the amount of ATSF decals. I will no longer have to canabalize 3 microscale sets to do one car. I like the MOW Truck decals too. I was planning on doing my own of these but now I don't have to go through all that trouble.

Here is a link to the site,

The beauty of OddBall's N Scale sets is they do 3 cars, for the most part, and provide more than enough additional numbers to change the car numbers. Car end numbers are included.
The Soo Line single airslide set will letter 6 cars!
Doing a pair of Minnesota Corn Processors 50' tanks now.
