i know this sounds like a first but has any one ever experimented with a Bachman 4-8-2 mountain and con-cor hudson shell to make it look like a NYC mohawk i have some of the original drawings and it look like it might just work the concor hudson shell has the same characteristics as the mohawk and i cant forget the wheel arrangement 4-8-2 from Bachman Please email me back at Reese792@aol.com with any news

I would think that the Hudson shell may have to be stretched to fit the Bachmann chassis. I have been able to do this kind of kit bash before. I usually remove all the hand rails, piping and walkways in order to replace them with continuous pieces in order to blend the addition in.

Reese, I am not a modeler, but am a NY Central history nut. I have scanned some drawings from Trainshed, reprints from ancient mechanical engineering publications. I trust that the statute of limitations on copyright have run out on these.
The main statistics involve total wheelbase length, from the center of the leading wheel on the pony truck to the trailing wheel on the trailing truck, and the overall locomotive length.
Hudson wheelbase 40 feet 4 inches. Mohawk 43 feet 1 inch.
    Hudson overall 54 feet 1 5/8 inches. Mohawk 57 feet 9 5/8 inches.

Now, I wonder how the stats on the Bachmann mountain compare. I thought of doing a rough workup of a Mohawk, just as window dressing on the connecting line.
