While at a recent train show an O gauge layout had a "nudie" bar as the sign read.
Of course the windows were black, but it had the silhouette female figures on the front of the building.
I was wondering if anyone has done this in HO scale as part of a layout or something funny on a layout to see if people notice?

    I thought it was funny.

    PS--maybe a Hooter's restaurant too [IMG] )

I have never seen anything inappropriate on a club layout like that.

It may be prototypical to life, but I don't think very many mommas would feel comfortable having to explain to their young son what that store sells.

I could understand someone having some joke on his personal layout at home, but not on a "public" layout where young impressionable unfulfilled husbands might get some exciting ideas their wives might object to.

Maybe you could explain to him that it is a bar that sells hot dogs that are unwrapped?

    Watash,
Oh my god! . Some imagination you've got! HA! But it would be a neat little conversational piece on a home "personal" layout...... with the minitronics neon signs to boot! :D Thats taking the "prototypical modeling to a NEW improved level"......But WOW sells hot dogs unwraped!!!! HE HE HE....... You's guys!!! Funny...

One of the local guys here in Sydney is rather well known for adding 'red light districts' to his layouts (including exibition layouts) but they are generally just that, red lights and curtains in the upstairs windows of several buildings near each other. Kids don't notice it - basicly only adults get the joke.

I noticed that Noch's German catalog has a neon "Sex Shop" sign (with red lips no less) available to lend authenticity to model red light districts. ;)

Downtown Deco has a kit in HO called "Red Light District." I also remember several years ago, a layout featured in MR that had a nudist camp. No pictures, just mentioned in the article and pointed out on the plan.

I once saw a layout that had a building that said "Flop House".
There were 35 sailors lined up down the street waiting to get in!
You know those HO scale sailors that are standing with their hands on their hips!

Closest I ever saw was a saloon on a buddy's HO scale layout in Kansas. He lifted off the roof, and in one of the rooms was.....well.....
let's just say it gets lonely out on the plains......and there were no small children in the group........... [IMG] :D

Dang. I envy the time available to be able to detail such things!

Nice problem. I am still trying to wrestle time to get my scenery done, track work to my satisfaction, and build some of the bazillion kits stored away at my workbench.

Speaking of which... I should get off the 'puter and back to the building project I have ongoing.

Ahhhhhhhhh yes.. the price I pay for being the classic "lone-wolf" modeler. [IMG]

    Happy modeling folks

I don't have anything like that on either our club layout, or my home layout, but it's a common sight in most towns.

I have an industry on my home layout that builds computers, and ships the finished product in boxcars. I went through the yellow pages, and there actually is a company names Bit By Bit Computers. I wanted to put a billboard sign on the side of the building. I came up with a take-off of Gateway...

    Bit By Bit Computers

    Any thoughts / comments?

I have seen an exibitionlayout that had several funny scenes in it, a cow pees on the legg of a farmer and , a group of bicicle racers fallen down after a curve.

I plan to put some funny stuff on my layout as well

    jokes in a railway-layout........never a dull moment.

I've been planning to do somthing along those lines, but one deterrent is the cost of the figures. I get almost all my railroad products on eBay and the prices for nudes are out of this world. I've seen 6 figure sets of Priesers got for as much as $40. I guess there are a lot of railroaders out there too chicken to walk into their local hobby shop and buy a naked woman. If this keeps up, I think I'll buy a case of them and go into business selling them on eBay!

Now that I think about it, I know an HO club on Long Island that has a highway bridge near the viewer, and a gentlemen in a car is flipping the bird to someone. Let me tell you, that is one small "bird"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's a prototypical New York layout!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At most of our Central Indiana Division Meets we have a layout present that models a part of England where the owner grew up. His layout is very very nice. He has a welding shop that has flashes emiting from it looking like arcs from welding. His detail is excellent in all phases of his work. He has been building and rebuilding this layout for 25yrs. On one corner of the layout , which you cannot see from the front he has some Star Wars models. One of those big walking things from one of the early Star Wars movies abd a Jedi fighter. As you are looking over the layout and turn the corner and see Star Wars, the look on some of the viewers faces is really great.

It seems that, at the shows I've been to, the Preiser nudes always sell quickly. I know that my father had a great time finding nudes to give me for Christmas some years back, and always looked for them when he visited. Visitors always comment on my "sunbathers", so far only positively (I don't know if any mothers have been embarrassed, they didn't tell me).
I think that humor is the most important thing in most everything -- far too many take everything far too seriously. As for me, I look for those layouts/modules that have a sense of humor.

leghome, I viewed that layout at your last meet, and I was very entertained when I saw it. The owner was spunky chap, and his layout was unique and interesting in every aspect. The force is definitely strong in that one.

    Hello to all
Any-one tell me which model rail road shop sells nude women?
I may have to move to America after all-although I don't think the wife would agree...
    Best wishes

Well, mI've gotten some of the Prieser singles from "The Train Center" in Seattle (Not to be confused with the distributor of the same name in Colorado). I can give you their number if you want it. I also have an extra one if you want to buy her.
