Norfolk Southern has taken ownership of former LMSX GE Dash 8-40CW units Nos. 712-727. These units are to be renumbered into the NS 8452-8467 number block as they are shopped.

Here is a photo of LMSX 727 on the lead of an eastbound empty hopper train waiting to depart the yard at Sandusky, OH on April 1, 2002.

Most likely, yes. It's not unusual to see mismatched A/C units like that on a number of other roads as well. I have seen NS units with Conrail blue A/C units as well.

I think that "paintjob" is pretty neat reminds me of the COnrail formation days of a quick coverup and add a new logo. I might even try to model that CN Dash8!!! [IMG]

ANother thing to look for on the NS units (especially if modelling) are conrail blue grabirons, stantions and even conrail horns. I have seen them all and they are small but neat details!!

They play musical air conditioners here on the BNSF quite a lot. I think management was getting a little peeved about it because I saw some stenceled "Do not change out unless failed until____ " with a date.
