In Atlanta, a NS slug between two MP15DCs. Also taken from the bridge.

Nice set of Englehard tank cars there, too. [IMG]

    Flash,

Do you know when this picture was taken?

    Mike,
Flash took that photo at the south end of NS's Inman Yard in Atlanta in 1992.

Here's a slug set that I shot in Chattanooga last year.

Thanks Richard. I think it was August, 1992 because I was out running at the time. Not cold weather.

I was confused when I first saw the slugs had been renumbered into 3 digit road #'s... It made sense when I thought about it, since they needed the 98xx + series for all of the D940CW's!

Here's a couple more NS slugs. Both were shot in Chattanooga TN.

This one is an old version and is riding on Alco trucks......

Thanks guys. I missed the year in the topic title.

Is there anyone that has modelled the slugs in N scale? What would you start with?

I am in the process of doing an approximation of this:

This is how far it's gotten.

The paint shop was closed for the holidays, so it's headed there this week.

I started with an Atlas SD35, which I cut down as follows:

Barstow yard uses two kinds of slugs, those with a "thick-sill" (ex SD7/9) and those with a "thin sill" (Ex SD35/40/45). I chose the latter, as is evident from the pictures.

Fact of the matter is in real life slugs are typically made of locomotives that were in accidents or otherwise made redundant, so you can pretty much use anything. :D
