I was out today(3-26-02) and took some pictures of NS Intermodel Trains passing through Chesterton, Indiana. If you want a reference for the area please refer to page 69 of the Guide to NA Railroad Hot Spots published by Kalmbach books. The weather was pretty bad for photographing and I have not had a chance in the last ten years to take pictures of trains due to time in the military so I'm a bit rusty. If anyone is interested in seeing these photos or knows of a website that may be interested in them please let me know. I can be reached at jotto18@attbi.com. Thanks for taking the time to look them over.
Hey JOtto, I used to live in Valpo and Portage, and once worked in Chesterton. Which right-of-way are you speaking of?
I'm talking about the NS double track that runs through Chesterton along Broadway. I was in the parking lot next to 4th St. along the south side of the tracks. I got there at a perfect time becasue there was one west bound train stopped waiting for an east bound to come by. Got to snap pictures of both.
Great spot there, especially in the park. You can sit there with a date eating a picnic she thinks you made especially for her, without letting on that you're really there to watch trains, hehe. Unless the Wizard of Oz fest is going on!
Jotto, If you would like the pictures posted here email them to me and I'll load them for you. railroad2000@trainboard.com
JOtto .. thanks for the info. Are you by any chance related to the renowned football player, Jim Otto?
