    Hey, they are a little "large" for my taste, but still very nice.. So what is the (faux) history of the F59?? An Amtrak acquisition? :D

    The "history" is that EMD and NS agreed to work together to test the F59PHI in high-speed intermodal service. With a lowered gearing ratio (compared to Amtrak's requirements), and certain internal modifications for freight service, it was designated "F59I."

    The marker lights are included in the event that the engine is used for excursion/OCS duties (but mainly because I think they look awesome on the black engines).
