Does anyone on here have any drawings or sketches or know where I can get them of the NP log cars. I need to know if they were 42' or 50' cars and if they were fishbelly bottoms or not. Any info anyone has on these would be greatly appreciated.
Sure wish I had some pictures of them! Used to see strings of them every day on the Snoqualmie Branch. In trains. And stored in the Preston siding. Believe there is a photo or two in the Sullivan NP Freight Car book. I don't believe they'd be 50 footers. Boxcab E50
There are basic diagrams at the NPRHA that you can download. http://www.nprha.org/ After about 1960 the skeleton log cars started dissapearing in favor of 40' to 52' flatcars with the wood decks removed, and racks installed. Most of the cars were straight side cars. The 40' cars used 4 "U Channel" rack that went across the deck side to side, and the 52 foot cars had 4 "Double H" stake pocket racks. Pictures are in the Sullivan book.
