Hello everyone, I am custom painting a few NP GP7's for the HO scale Sunset Valley Oregon System (era 1955) and was wondering if anyone could give me links to a few websites that have photos of NP GP7's around that time period? I noticed that NP GP7s in 1952 did not have MU capability, and no drop steps, etc. Then, in 1963 a photo of the same unit (NP 551) had MU's, drop steps, lift bars and had lost the plow and gained foot boards, etc. Can anyone explain when these features where added? Thank you and any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
I can't be of any direct help....I'm more of a Milwaukee road and Montana Rail link fan, but here's a site you might find useful. It covers NP from the early steam days on......if you know your road numbers, you can link to the photos for that engine. http://muse.museum.montana.edu/rvndb/
You could try the NPRHA web site. They have some research data posted: www.nprha.org I wonder if George Elwood's Fallen Flags site has any back to early 1950's? Or perhaps Don Ross' site, which has a lot of photos. Otherwise, NP books, of which there are fair number with early diesel photos. Boxcab E50
You could aslo try the following Yahoo Groups:- Northern Pacific Railway Modellers Northern Pacific Railway Mainstreeters Northern Pacific Railway TellTale I'd be interested to know the answer myself so please let us know of any responses you get. Cheers, Alan
http://muse.museum.montana.edu/rvndb/rvnjpeg_img_rec.php?objno=RVN18606 There's a GP7 with MU's and a rather interesting paintjob, with the minimal N.P.R. on the cab and no body lettering! Funny... perhaps a loco I'd like to model myself, and full MU setup on the thing in 1954! Keep those hoses, my friend
