Here is another BN shot and some more from the garage sale find. SD70MAC, Crawford Hill, June 1996 Black River & Western #60, 1970 Brooklyn East District Terminal, Oct. 1979 Dan
Had this photo been composed differently, and the BNSF logos were out of the picture, it would be tough to date. Well, if not for the Scotchlite tape!
Yeah, another BNSF. Did a double take and a quick turn around to grab this one before it left! Looking west, by former Gates rubber company. Broadway and Mississippi.
Here's one you don't see very much, the Brownsville & Rio Grande International. It's a short line that basically serves the Port of Brownsville. This one was across the border in Matamoros, bringing cars to the KCSdeM connection. Sorry about the poor quality of the shot. It was a suden surprise to see this locomotive and there was no time to reposition myself or to get the sun behind me.
Sorry, don't know the answer to either of your questions. I'm lucky to recognize it as a "diseasel", much less know the details. Here's a link to another photo of it. The photo is worse than the first one as it is more directly into the sun, and I had to try to lighten it up as much as possible. But it does show the fuel tank better. http://www.trainboard.com/railimages/data/1261/B_M3.jpg Regards Ed
I hadn't heard of it either. That's one reason I was so surprised when I saw it. But I looked it up later. Here's a link to their website: http://www.brgrr.com/ Regards Ed
I love those reporting marks. It's a wonder someone at Birmingham Southern didn't notice the double meaning to the letters.
More B's These photos were taken on the BNSF at Scenic just west of the Cascade Tunnel and Vancouver Wn.
