I'm a bit surprised that I don't see any reference to the Chicago, Milwaukee & North Shore or the North Shore Line. I can remember riding it from Racine to Milwaukee for different events, or to Chicago & suburbs to the museums or to visit relatives in Evanston.
DLK- Welcome aboard! I wasn't aware that CNS&M was related to the C&NW? Do you have more on this family history? Boxcab E50
It isn't related. It started as Bluff City Electric Street Railway Company, absorbed by Chicago and Milwaukee Electric Railway, & then the CM & NS, or simply North Shore Line. Of course, up until it went belly up in 1963, I could have cared less about it (except for the actual riding of it) and its history. I do remember thinking a few years later that it was a shame that they didn't use the WHOLE right-of-way for hiking/biking. Other thatn that, allthat I know has been learned recently. David
