How many diesel units do they have, which are actually operational? Do they have any serviceable steam?

No, it's a 2-8-0 No. 604. The "604" in the photos is actually Sou. No. 542.

According to information I can gather (ie: wikipedia ++): They have 9 diesel and 6 steam...

and based on the schedule, they have one operational steam, and about 5 operational diesels -- Rail days is amazing if you're around in april-may of next year:

Rail Days at the North Carolina Transportation Museum: Steam and diesel train rides, model train expo, live music with Tom Fisch, CASI Chili Cook off.

I've been and they give locomotive cab rides in a small freight train for ~10.00 -- steam cab rides for 15 i think...

Should this thread be moved to the "Railfan Photos" section?
