Just a quick update. I sprayed the entire shell down with dullcoat to seal the decals. Its not quite as "shiny" as the protos, but the protos won't be "shiny" forever, so I'm happy with it. I scratched window glass and added a plow. ALMOST done!

I also added the handrails, and boy what a PITA! I def cursed and carried on with this little project. I'm sure I will do better on my later attempts, and they look a little rough up close, but from a few feet away they look A-Ok. It definately illustrates how damn big Kato's handrails are. They look like they are as thick as a flagpole! Its not museum quality, but I'm happy with it.

    That turned out well!

I have yet to do anything with all the cabs I have laying around to build some of these. You'd think the guy that designed them would build at least one.

I was wondering what did you use for window glass, especially the angled front ones??

I used leftover glass from a dpm kit I had laying around... didn't turn out the best up close, but it looks good from a regular distance. I had to measure and cut for the side and rear glass, and used one large strip for the front windshield

What else you think could work?

Honestly, I think it turned out great using the DPM stuff. I think it was my errors that made it look a little cloudy. It was pretty hard to get just the right amount of CA on the glass to get it to stick, but not overflow onto the glass thats visible from the outside. Also, my tweezers were scratching it to heck. I tried with several fresh pieces but I eventually was just satisfied with my last attempt enough to not fiddle with it any longer. The DPM stuff looks good without looking too thick. Your preference of course...

    Josh,

Looks great. I'll send you one to do for me. If you do anymore, when it comes to gluing "glass" onto a model may I suggest that you try a bottle of Pacer Formula 560 Canopy Glue. If it runs onto the glass it will not show as it dries crystal clear. Just some info.

Non-crazing glue like Carl suggests works, as does Micro Kristal Kleer from Microscale. You can use it to make windows, or glue windows in. The project came out very nicely. bravo!

You know I got this cab. Nice cab, but it dont fit well. I got the SD60E cab also and I think the cab is a little long for the SD60 shell.. wasted two shells tring to get to fit.

As soon as BNSFDash8 gets his new ditch lights available for sale, I am planning on ordering one of these cabs to try out. I have some spare 40-2's sitting around to sample on.
