SP/SSW No way to treat a "Lady"

    Awaiting final disposition at the boneyard, near Chinatown in Los Angeles (November 1983)...an SP ALCO Century awaits her final fate...perhaps a welders torch to put her out of her misery..and reincarnate as a Datsun or Toyota!

    What a sad sight :( I hate to see locomotives awaiting scrapping. But we have to move on, I guess.

    Are those bullet holes in the glass? Must be exciting shooting at such difficult targets :rolleyes:

    These photos certainly invoke sad feelings, especially the Alco's [​IMG]
    I vaguely remember a post on a forum asking what happened to retired locos. If I come across it again I'll direct them to this topic.

    Were those all Scrapped? Were some saved by other roads? Did the GEs go back to be turned into Super Sevens? I can understand the Alcos, but I can't believe the GEs were really at the end of their careers.
