Niles Canyon Railway to operate two steam locomotives this weekend Published: April 4, 2013 SUNOL, Calif. – The Niles Canyon Railway will be operating two steam locomotive on April 6-7 as part of its “Spring Steam Excursions.” The railroad will be operating both Quincy Railroad Company 2-6-2T No. 2, built by Alco in 1924, and recently restored Clover Valley Lumber Company 2-6-6-2T No. 4, built by Baldwin in 1924. This will be the first time the locomotives have operated together since the early 1980's at the Castro Point Railway in Richmond. No. 2 will operate on trains departing Sunol at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 2:30 p.m., the normal diesel powered train schedule. No.4 will depart Sunol at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
