I'm wondering what will be the next Brass Diesel Model from AZL. So far this year AZL will "only" present the injection Mold Diesels (SD-70/75, and GP 7/9). Don't get me wrong on this, I sure like this Models and I'm very lucky that AZL makes this effort, but I'm also a Brass Fan. I can't wait until the AC-12 Cab Forward are running on my Track. So what you guys think? Regards Jürg
Jurg, I Love the Brass that AZL has produced so far. I can't afford to outfit my entire locomotive assembly with Brass. I am lucky to have 2 Dash 9's as it is. I have a want for an SD40-2 still. I really wanted a SD45 instead. I want one more Dash 9 in AT&SF so I can change it to a BNSF Warbonnet. Brass in my future does not look good. You, on the other hand, have one hell of a nice "Z" collection that I could only dream of having. Unless I win a lottery, it ain't gonna happen. I can afford, however, a plastic locomotive for between $100 and $200 USD!!!! AZL, bring on the SD70's! I encourage AZL to make whatever they think will be profitable. But, all I can afford now and in the future is plastic! Go AZL!!!! Tim
Timmy, my friend, You better buy those brass before your fiance turn into your wife. It gets a lot harder after that.
I have a pair of AZL SD45's in Rio Grande that I want to trade for BN units. I bought them planning on painting them in NP colors, but now I think I like the BN, and figured I would trade the shells from mine with BN shells from someone wanting Rio Grande. No takers so far, so I will probably end up re-painting them. Oh, by the way, the next AZL Brass will be something that SP owned, so I am thinking a 2-10-2 Decapod with Vandy, as SP owned 170 of them, and they were big. I would like to see AZL make a 2-8-0 Consolidation, as there were over 400 of them in use on the SP, and it's a locomotive that most railroads owned. Maybe they would even paint one up for NP. -Robert
Robert, I would trade the bulk of my Z rolling stock for just one of those SD45's in D&RGW... But, what would I pull with it??
Forget the next diesel model from AZL. How about an early steam engine from AZL? MTL and Marklin have not released one in years and from what I've heard have no plans to release any new American steam locos in the near future. John Bartolotto
Hey guys I was talking about Diesels. For the next steam release I have many dreams like the Shay (we talked about that) or a Alco 4-8-8-4 Big Boy or a Challenger Regards Jürg
I know what the next brass releases (plural) are. But I can't tell.... Think big, think small, think east, think west... Please keep posting your ideas! I will forward them on to AZL. Rob
I really hope it's a smaller steam, so more people can actually run them on their home layouts with tight radius. Think of all the fantastic scenes and pictures we would see posted if AZL made a 4-6-0 or 2-8-0 that would negotiate tight radius trackwork. As far as AZL Beass Diesel? Well it will never ever happen, as it has not even happened in N Scale yet, would be the U25C. It is a beautiful locomotive of the 1960's, and many roads owned them, including NP of course! -Robert
If this is true, now my wife will have something to complain about because that would be very difficult to pass on! I do hope for smaller steam though.
