My latest purchases. 90 year old gentleman, downsizing, in preparation to moving to assisted living.
May have chance to pick up a 10-12 car Marx train as well. Friend ended up buying the entire layout!
Fairly small - 6x12 foot layout. Nice layout, from photos Mom took, since I can't get down stairs!
    Pre War, from 1929-1935.

    Complete Lionel passenger traiin:

    Lionel 252 locomotive

Lionel 2666T, with whistle. Don't think this is the correct tender for locomotive!

Lucked out today, and made a trade with frriend, for the remaining Marx equipment from this fellows collection!
I now have ALL of his trains in my personal collection! Layout is gonna be put up for sale. She and her family are unable to keep it.
As typical, No space. Neighbor kid was gonna get it, but they can't use it either!
So, I'm gonna get an ad together and see if we can get it sold! A 6x10 foot layout, that disassembles into several sections, for transport.

    Layout, from above
    [IMG]

"Split Rail" fencing in corners is there to help catch a train, if it derails! From going to fast into the curves.
Very easy to do, when turning throttle wrong way, trying to STOP the train!

    Control panel
    [IMG]

Black rotary switches are for throwing switches. LED's with good 9V battery, show which way switch is thrown.
Red rocker switches are block power. So you can cut power to the various blocks. Transformer set up so top
throttle runs upper level track, lower throttle runs lower tracks.

The last of the trains, from fellows collection, now in my collection!

Commodore Vanderbilt locomotive, with 2 tenders. Need to locate another locomotive.
One for passenger train, one for freight train.

    Freight cars

    Includes:
Northern Pacific General Coal Co. hopper, Rock Island gondola, Santa Fe Middle States Oil tank car, wrecking crane, NYC cabooses, one without wheels.

    Passenger equipment:
    Includes:

    817 - C&S reefer, 1935 - US Mail, 547 - NYC Express Baggage/Railway Express, 245 Pullman "Bogota" 246 - Pullman "Montclair"

All equipment from Marx. Dating back to at least the mid 1930's!! Traded K-Line Burlington ALCo S-2, 3 Lionel gondolas and matching K-Line Burlington caboose for the Marx equipment! Purchased the Lionel equipment the fellow had last year. Now, I have ALL of his former equipment
    in my collection!

Keith, you got some very nice pre-war trains.

Hopefully somebody will be able to use the layout. It's much too nice to trash. With a few buildings and some scenery it will be an outstanding layout for someone.

    Nice.
I like to see Marx trains.
They often get overshadowed by larger manufacturers, kind of like Allis Chalmers tractors.

Was able to locate another Commodore Vanderbilt locomotive, with
seller said was probably the incorrect tender. Is now 3 days late.
Tracking shows it still in Denver, when it should have arrived Tuesday.
Dr visit pretty quick, gonna stop by Post Office and find out why I still
don’t have my package and see what they intend to do about it!
    Bunch of incompetent people!!

Second Commodore Vanderbilt locomotive arrived Friday, 4 days after due date! Now, the M10005
is now 3 days late! Expected this past Friday. Still has not left Denver! Filed complaints with the post office and the office of consumer advocate in DC, they’re gonna look into it!

Think it’s more todo with the incompetent people that work there!
At least at the distribution center in Denver. The M10005 that I should
have received Friday, is apparently on the move again!! Not sure if they
decided that, or if the DC office I contacted, had anything to do with it?
Arrived Denver evening of Sept 29. Departed just after Noon today!
Whereas an HO Rio Grande caboose from a friend in AR was surprised at
how fast it arrived here, when I let him know!
Oh well, it’ll get here someday. Just not sure what day, or what year!
Now, to eventually be able to pick up the stuff I dropped off for repairs!
Then I can finish putting that equipment up on display shelf! Looks a bit
out of place, among the MTH stuff on display!

I’m surprised really. Latest train was actually delivered today!!
Only 4 days late! Hopefully, the Denver center was contacted by
OCA - Office of Consumer Advocate, which got them to actually
do something!! Will attempt a test run later.

After a quick test run, I decided to clean center pick up.
That's when I discovered it was extremely loose, and not
very well sprung! In that very little pressure on center rail.
Easy fix, in that I just popped the pick up off, adjusted the
tension under it, and snapped it back.

Only thing I'm unsure of, is if it has reverse function?
Guessing it's supposed to, but doesn't work.
Forward is fine though. Nice little train, for its age!

I have experienced a couple of slow deliveries, the past six months or so. Where an item simply sits at one location for a while. Aside from your comments, have heard the same from others. It begins to seem almost like a more wide-spread, deliberate action, than just a local thing.
