Is anyone aware of a group or forum that covers the Newaukum Valley RR or logging railroads in general? Thanks, David
I believe there is a Yahoo Logging RR Group. Seems I have heard of it somewhere....? Otherwise, we can talk about it here! I'll bet that you and I are the only folks who will know where the valley is located! Boxcab E50
I have very little knowledge of the Newaukum Valley RR other than I live in Lewis County WA and I have a brass locomotive model of an MK-11 that was owned by the NVRR. I was hoping to find out some information on the history of the locomotive. All I was able to find was 1 picture of the locomotive in an SP book. I know that it was sold to the Southern Pacific and operated in the Portland - Shasta area. I checked out the Yahoo group on logging railroads. Total posts in 3 years is around 20 and the last one was Sept/Oct 04. Thanks, David
The 4L Group. That's what I couldn't remember. Try checking for a Lewis County Historical Society. Most counties of any size have one. They may have some further photos. You might also explore the possibility of what old records might exist in a County Assessors files. There could be maps showing where what once stood, line ran, etc. And even photos of old buildings. Their reporting mark, NV, was registered from 7/1923-1/1941. That's all I know about it. Yes, I know where it is too.
Never thought we'd see many people who even had heard the RR name. Let alone know where it was once located! Boxcab E50
