I thought I drop a quick note a bought my new web page. I started my new layout just 6 months ago. While still under construction, I have made some real progress. One of my begets goals was to change the way people look at G scale. Those who do not model in G scale seem to have this idea that they are more toy like then models. So most of my structures are scratch built and locomotives and rolling stock are weathered. I’m molding a real short line that once ran past my house here in Dunkirk NY. So please stop in and leave me your comments a bought the web site and the layout. Have a happy holidays! That is a lot of progress for six months! Sure you didn't have a crew? OK to post pictures here, too, if you wish. Nice work on a big project!
Sean: I really like your website. You've made alot of progress in such a short amount of time. Stay cool and run steam.....
Just had an opportunity to take a quick look through your site. Very nice. You sure do nice work. I wish I had the patience , and skill, to do accurate detail like that. I bookmarked it and I'll be back to dwell over it at my leasure. Thanks.. Dave
Dave, I want to thank you for the pat on my back! I must tell you that I have been watching your web site and literally drawling over your work. I have always told myself that if I can do ½ as good of a job as you have done, I will be vary pleased with my self. So when you gave me your comment / praise, well its hard to find the exact words, but it ment a lot to me. Your layout has been one of two that have been inspiring me and my work. Thanks for making my day! I toll will be fallowing you and your web pages progress.
Sean- Do you have a map of the entire DAV&P line? Where did it run, south of Falconer? Was it the Erie they crossed at Falconer? Boxcab E50
The DAV&P had a junction at Falconer with the Erie RR., but went on for 60 Miles where it made a junction with PRR. . There where 16 more stations between Falconer NY. and Titusville PA. . Here is a url to the Full map of the DAV&P, Its on my friends web site “ Dunkirk One railroad town “. DAV&P Map Dunkirk NY. One Railroad town In this photo we are looking North, standing on The DAV&P with the NS runing East and West. In the trees behinde the truck would have been the round house. Saub..... Wine..... this is the old Red Wing plat in Fredonia still being serviced by the DAV&P now CSX , The track that seems to go under the road... Welp that was the mainline. OOOOO The pain of it all... This was the fredonia Station. We lost her last year. Wimper..... Saub..... I'll try and get some pics of the track work tomorow. CXS has realy let the line go, as in some places the ties are brocken and pushed up over the rail head...........
Bummer. I always am sad when any depot, anywhere, is removed. A historic landmark. That many times, locals awaken to, after it's too late. Boxcab E50
here some photos of the Decrepit track conditions. Ties ??? Who needs ties……… Ties above and below rail head, that’s a good thing right? Take a real close look at the rail on the far side. It has more rises and dips then a bag full of snakes! Maybe CXS is going for the roller coster look…. Aaaa maybe not. ……. OOOOOOO Now here is one thing the DAV&P was known for. This is a short grade just out side of Dunkirk NY., Take a good look at that hill. Can you hear a steam loco pounding up the grade? And to think this was just an indication of the real hill between Cassadaga and Fredonia ! This line still see 1 to 2 10 car trains per week. Its slow going and rocking from side to side. I’ll bet the yard crew gets a little older each time they make the trip.
WOW they still use that line in that condition? That is crazy!! Hope no Hazmat travels on these rails
