Switching such an industry in real life can be very challenging if the switch crew has to deal with partial loads in properly setting up the track. Commodities in tank cars are some form of liquid and when starting or stopping partially loaded tank cars the load will slosh back an forth for a period of time until it settles. Was working with a crew in Cleveland back in the 1970's switching a chemical plant that had 8 or 9 specific commodity spots on their private siding. The nominal job of the crew was to pull the empties and place the loads and keep the part loads in the same spot locations. Holding on to 7 or 8 cars that were part loads and spotting them took almost a complete hour with all the sloshing taking place and having to wait for it to settle before making the next move.
