The W&OD SD9 will be joined to my (previously shown) VAR SD9, and will have an equal level of severe abuse and weathering.

The VAR Ortner is the standard VAR Scheme for this car type (and please forgive the red trucks/couplers...havn't bothered to pint or replace them yet).

Cool paint scheme on the diesel and the hopper. On a different topic, now that Kato will sell an F40PH, do you plan on painting up any of them for some commuter line or other. [IMG]

  4. Russ, the plan had always been for the VAR to be a bit "odd & Unique" among freight railroads, in that they utilized differently geared F40PH as FC40-2 Freight units. These units, similar in operation to the old A and B units of the previous generation, would be used in the same roles as standard GP40-2's, albeit in matched pairs coupled tail to tail.

The VAR's nickname I game it originally was the "Great Cowl Road"....before i found out there was no quality F40 and no F45 at all, LOL!

So yes, the VAR will have a fleet of FC40-2 Cowl units, which I hope to display here in the future.
