I am not a big UP fan but they are beautiful! Heck, I would even buy one in N-scale if they came out with that scheme!

    I agree..........

But first we need (an affordable) N SD-70

Atlas or Kato, are you listening?

This has to seal the fate for either Kato or Atlas to produce an Sd70M as the sales from patriotism will ensure enough volume for reasonable sales. i'll be buying one myself but i do model UP

The pics look good, and I'll bet the locomotives look better in person.

I made a comment about the flags in the UP forum, concerning the care of the flag decals. I teach flag discipline to my Cub Scout pack, and I'm concerned that a grimy locomotive with the flag won't look good at all. And before anyone questions my patriotism, I fly the flag at home.

All that aside, UP has come up with an awesome-looking locomotive. Do these three units have the winged shield on the nose as well? And when can we expect Microscale to come out with the decals in N and HO scale?

As I model UP in N Scale, the UP did a fantastic job. As for modeling, if you haven't heard Microscale is offering these decals. They just announced these about a week ago. Also, for those who are into brass, Overland is doing these in HO & N Scale. They are also doing the Olympic Torch locomotives in HO & N. Though the N Scale units are limited to 50 or so pieces and offered only in the two unit set.

I've got parts gathered for doing a kitbash of these when I clear some other projects off the bench. Hopefully, Atlas or Kato would offer these in N Scale saving me time. [IMG] [IMG]

Here's a small photo of UP 4528 with nose wings.

MicroScale Set 1103 is the SD70 set w/nose wings (but no flag). The UP shield on the long hood should be readily available. The slogan "BUILDING AMERICA" would probably have to be pieced together using an alphabet set. Did not find a new decal set listed for the new scheme yet....

    Don and all:

Microscale has already released the decals for the Union Pacific "Building America" Flag SD70M's. The set number is 87-1145 (HO) and 60-1145 (N scale). I have the HO sets and they are really nice. I am looking forward to doing one of these units in HO and have it nearly detailed and ready for paint as I type this.

Microscale is also doing sets for the Olympic locomotives. Set numbers for those will be 87-1150 (HO scale) and 60-1150 (N scale). I am looking forward to those as well.
