I have the Walthers DC turntable on a 100% nitrack layout. I DIDNT have to do any modifcations. The only thing I did was cut off about 1/2 inch of the built in ballast on the Unitrack...so the rails went over the lip on the pit. Piece of cake.
George, how did you handle the Walthers bridge at C55 and the C80 Kato track? Do you just have a small step on the track?
The Walthers 130' turmtable comes with C80 track on the bridge. http://www.walthers.com/instructions/0933/09330000002613.pdf Look under INSTALLING SERVICE TRACKS.... It lined right up with the height of the Unitrack
Note about the ATSF turntable photo: Notice engine number 3316 on one of the tenders. This engine was one of a group of the really strange 3300 class 2-6-6-2 (with hinged boilers). The engine had a wheelbase of 89'6". But that roundhouse stall was one of four stalls that were in track alignment with inbound turntable tracks. All engines with a wheelbase longer than that 85' bridge were turned on the wye at the east end of the yard. Robert
Oh, right. I remembered tapering the rails on the lead up to the turntable, and had used the Pecorino 55/80, but it was more tapering on some points, not undersides. Amazing I can remember anything from 4 years ago. They say there are a few signs of advancing age, but if can't remember them.
I wonder if it will play music like this one I videoed at Motegi to the north of Tokyo a year ago. The fireman starts the turntable about a minute in.
I also cut off the Kato Unitrack roadbed to allow rail to set on the turntable lip. However, I am using the Heljan round house. They means I had to trim off additional roadbed to allow the tracks into the round house to fit correctly. If Kato sold Unitrack transition pieces, those might work with the Walther's turntable. I cannot see the detail of that part of the Kato Unitrack turntable.
Missed this post, did you? http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/showthread.php?156038-New-Unitrack!&p=967334#post967334
He's just reposting the link form the Kato twitter feed and they happen to be the same. Relax. Jason.
Soooooooooooooo...is this the 'official' Unitrack 'knock your socks off' announcement ? Or are we still speculating ? Inquiring minds wanna know. thnxs
If this is "THE" announcement... my socks are firmly adhered to my feet. Even though I have a lot of Unitrack... a turntable was not a Knock-Your-Socks-Off item for me. A Transfer Table... on the other hand... would have made my Socks stand at attention... but... still be on my feet.
