Hey guys, Mike Nichols is our new trainboard member and email me looking for some info. Maybe we can all help him. He hopes to reproduce the "wheat line" out to Tiflis and Marcellus from Warden and is looking for any information about the line including photos. Ken do we know of any books or other sources that may help Mike out. I have had a hard time finding stuff for Moses Lake and it seems Mike may even have a harder time for his proposed area. What do you all got for him?
Greg- Photos of that area are few. It was in the famous "Gap." Too many people skipped by. Hit Othello, then dashed onward to Avery. There are a couple of pix in the Fred Hyde Milwaukee Road book. If v6 of the Morning Sun seris ever comes out, maybe 2007, it may have a photo or two. Wade Stevenson took some photos out there. Check with historical people in Othello, as to disposition of his photo collection. Check with the Grant County Historical people. They do have a few black & white pictures. ($$$$!!!! OUCH!!!) Any such people in Adams County? Also, check with county tax assessors offices. They usually have maps, descriptions of structures, and photos. Boxcab E50
Well you guy's are the western division, so you will have to handle this one. I wouldn't have a clue, wonder if the historical society would have anything or the Milw. library?
The Grant County Histerical Society is located here in Ephrata. They have the place buttoned up for the winter. I could check when they open up in May. The Wade Stevenson collection may be untouchable if he is still with us. He has been burned by people who have wanted to use his photos, with promises of $$, but never came through. He had a book deal with a friend of mine, the same guy who did the book on Monte Holm of Moses Lake. Wade would not go through with it. My guess would be his cut of the deal was not what he thought it should be. You might have him contact Ted Schnepf about any photos of the line. I think you still have the web adress I sent you.
Thank you all for the assistance. I will follow up with the historical folks in Othello. It would be a shame if the Wade Stevenson collection never made it to print. I would be surprised if he didn't have some information on the wheat line. Thanks again! Mike
