Hi all, I've just joined TrainBoard and have been surfing around many of the forums and groups. This is way more than I had expected. I thought I'd introduce myself as a way to get started. I've been an N scale modeler for nearly twenty years now, wow how time flies! I got started with N-Trak modules and graduated to a permanent layout about eleven years ago. I'm "proto-lancing" a regional railroad known as the Mud Bay & Southern. When I started this adventure the woo woo woo&S was the major player on my layout. As I've expanded I've included more and more of the BN Tacoma Division. In it's current state the layout is about half woo woo woo&S and half BN, although there is a small Milwaukee presence as well. I operate on a regular basis with "mini sessions" every week and major "ops days" two or three times a year. I use TWC for controlling train movements and car cards for car forwarding. My entire empire is controlled using Digitrax DCC. I started off years ago with a Chief and have continued to expand as the railroad grows. I look forward to many interesting discussions. Jim
Welcome! Your layout looks amazing! I hope to see more photos and perhaps some participation in our weekend photo contests. I especially like this shot where the trees dwarf the train:
Jim Welcome to the site! With the quality of your layout I doubt you will be looking for help here. More like the other way around. Mark
Jim, Welcome to Trainboard! Was your layout in N scale magazine a few years ago? I remember reading about it. And a quick search brings up John Sing's page with it. Sure looks like your layout. Very nice!! http://home.comcast.net/~atsf_arizona_2/Jim_Younkins_Mud_Bay_and_Southern.html Trainboard is a great place and I'm sure you'll be a positive addition to it! -Mike
Yep, that was my Mud Bay & Southern. It seems so long ago. Actually the railroad has grown a lot since then. If I had the energy I'd do another article, but I'm having too much fun modeling right now. Isn't retirement grand. To answer Catfan, I figure I still have a lot to learn. I'm also happy to share. Jim

Welcome aboard, Jim! I am a former Puget Sound area resident, and huge fan of your woo woo woo&S. A photo I took back in 1998, of your NTrak-MRNS woo woo woo&S engine house module, serves as my computer desktop! Boxcab E50
Welcome Jim! Your layout was one of the first N scale layouts I ever saw when it was in N scale Railroading years ago. I loved it then and still do.
Welcome! TrainBoard is the best model railroading community on the internet, especially so for N-scale. Glad to have you aboard and that is one sensational layout! Jamie
