Hi to all... my name is Jason and I am getting back into the model train hobby having been away for about 20 years. My preference is running passenger traffic with a little CN freight as well. With my basement having been recently finished, I am now looking at converting some of my workroom into a train layout (HO). As a teenager I had built a typical 4x8 layout, broken into modules to allow me to run multiple trains at the same time. As I look to building my new layout, I am excited and anxious about exploring the possibilities of DCC which is all new to me. I look forward to chatting with members of the board and hope to not sound to naive.

Welcome to TrainBoard Jason! You mention passenger trains and HO scale, but have you considered N? There are a lot of great passenger trains in N Scale you might check out, and in N Scale you can fit longer trains in the same space.
I'll second what Mark said. N-scale gives you tons more space to model long passenger trains over a nice amount of trackage. And the challenge of doing all the small scale detailing is great fun, too!
