Hi, I know that this is probably a very stupid question but I am not sure so I figured that I would ask. I am running DCC with MRC Prodigy wireless. All the locos I have, have been set to F3 from the factory. I want to run 2 locos on my layout now and Im not sure how to change the programing on the locos to be a different call address. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Have you set up a programming track? This can be a short piece of track (just big enough to hold your biggest loco), and is attached to the Prog Track outputs of your base unit. They are the two terminals farthest away from the power cord.

Put one loco on the programming track. Press PROG to select "Prog Prog Track". Press ENTER. First, “Adr” will flash, prompting you to program the loco address. Using
0 - 9, enter the loco address followed by ENTER

That's all there is to it! (see page 2-6 of the Prodigy Wireless manual) Most folks will program the road number of the loco as its address.

    Bobby,

Another member of this forum replied a while ago, in response to a similar question "The only stupid question is the one you don't ask".

Whatever your topic of enquiry SOMEBODY on here will have the answer! Welcome aboard.

    Regards,

Hi Rick and thanks. I did every thing you said and it wont take the address. Is there any thing else I need to do. Like to the CV or anything. THanks

What decoders do you have in the locos? If they are sound, you may need to bridge the programming tracks with a 1000 ohm resistor. You do have the locos on the programming track (not your layout), with the feeders connected to it? The programming tracks need to be completely isolated from your layout.

The Prodigy should handle the addressing just fine without direct programming of the CVs. You might want to try using only 2-digit addressing to start, and use numbers less than 100 (actually 127, but lets not discuss hexadecimal at this point).

Oh - and on the Prodigy Wireless, make sure your CAB is allowed to access programming (see the manual)

Hi Rick and thanks so much for your assistance. I found out the problem. You see I am new to trainboard as well and when I posted on here I saw that there was alot more people in N scale then any other. So I figured I would post there. Actually the locos I was trying to program are MTH Ho scale locos. I found out through MTH that you have to program their locos on the main track and the the program track. I follow their instructions and it worked perfect. But I would like to say to you THANK YOU so much for your help.
