Hello, my name is Bill & I'm from Connecticut. 6 months back into HO Model Railroading after a 25 year absence. Lots has changed, prices have gone up, I'm excited & learning about DCC & I'm building a small layout before expanding in size. Became disabled 2 years back & it was suffer from depression & boredom or find something u enjoyed that I can do. So I am back, but Disability has limited how much I can do & how much I can afford. Looking forward to getting ideas & help from experienced members, I'm not ashamed to say after 25 years, I'm new & will need some guidance...
Welcome to TrainBoard! Doesn't matter when you start or re-start, we're just happy to know you've picked up the hobby again. Got questions? Ask. It will save you time, money and help avoid frustrations.
Lots of ways to start small and have the ability to expand. One of my first thoughts is always about looking for a club near to you. Switching styled layouts are another possibility. We have quite a few discussions about different types of layouts, as well as DCC systems. Take some time to poke around and hopefully inspiration will strike. Welcome aboard!
Hi Bill, welcome back to model railroading. I agree that disabilities can be a pain, but as long as you have eyesight, finger tip coordination, able to move from work bench to layout, and enthusiasm, you have it made. Looking forward to helping in any way, even though you've chosen that HOrribly over sized scale.
Welcome aboard, Bill. That's very encouraging news that this hobby has helped you deal with disability. Hoping you get very involved with it, and keep us informed of your progress.
Welcome Bill! I too suffer from the bid D! Really stinks! I try to do something for myself everyday. Doesn't matter what it is. A project that I've been putting off because something else got in the way. One of those projects is a fairly good size N scale layout. I've had that sucker since around 2003 or so. I really haven't done much with it. I now have a soon to be 8 year old daughter who really likes trains. She can handle the N scale stuff too. Here's one of the threads. http://www.trainboard.com/highball/...hetti-n-scale-layout-build.92869/#post-971032 The other thread the pictures aren't showing.
