This is an excerpt from a message forwarded to the Nscale list from the BnOinN list:

The SW8 and SW600 are externally identical to the SW900. Here is a photo of the HO version which will be available later this year.

I hope it is so! We need more switchers. I would really really like to see some MP15s though and some SW 1001 or 1500's!
Their SW9/1200's run really nice so any new LL switchers are welcome!

I'd like to amend what Russ said to include early and modern. How about an SW1500 and an SW1? Something from another builder (Baldwin or Lima, anyone?) would also be excellent. Hope Life-Like is reading this...

I'm glad LL is doing this switcher, I just wish they would do them in more roads. They only managed to do the 1200's in 12 roads they could have easily doubled or tripled that number. At $100 each the custom painted (DRGW) units I need could easily bankrupt me.

I'm all for some SW1500's. Even tho I'd not have a use for them on my current layout, I may eventually build an NS layout, or something. :-D Some excuse to buy some NS switchers.

I agree with Brian. We need more switchers, period. Personally, I'd like to see either a VO1000 or a DS-4-4-1000.

Yes Yes - this is a big hole in the N scale lineup - Stewart has been very succesful with their HumOngus models of these - perhaps they could repeat that success in N. [IMG]

does any one remember the rumors a while back that Liflelike leaked accidently they were working on an S1? wonder what ever became of that?

I thought it was either LL or Atlas that DID come out with an S1- sadly, it's in HO :(

I'd love to see some Alco switchers, as well as some Baldwins. I did have a Trix H12-44 switcher a long time ago, and it was decent.

Count me in as a ditto for more modern EMD switchers- the ConCor offerings aren't all that good.

FYI: Arnold/Rivarossi makes an S2 in N-scale. I have no idea how good it is.

The Arnold S-2 I have is very nice and pulls great. However, I have heard the ones with traction tires are not as nice. I believe the these are the latest Arnold/Rivarosso that came with traction tires. Perhaps some can clerify when this change happened

I have an Arnold S-2 that i bought maybe 5-7 years ago, and at that time it had obviously been in the hobby shop for a while, and it has tracton tires.

Nice loco, but is awful sensitive to voltage... As in, if you're not careful, it'll take off at 150mph+!!! If you've got a good throttle, and clean track, it'll run decently slow.

    Can't wait a new switcher!

I have a S2 . It runs a lot better without the traction tires. (I have both axle sets) Electrical pickup is a whole lot better, so it is way smoother. And it still pulls pretty good with out them.

The H-12-44 isn't a bad runner either. Though neither can creep as slow as my LifeLike SW

So many engines, so little time...

I COULD not wait (either?) for a switcher. We need more switchers, OK.
So, I rebuilt an old steamer to a diesel :D
It was a 0-2-0 before, but now it is a "Stiesel"
which I can name Sx for fun :D .

The old motor has only three poles which can cause some problems at low speed at turnouts.
I noticed a remarkable fact that when I run at very low speed, pulling seven boxcar uphill at 2% grade, the TECH II pulse unit was not so good as my own built unit with a power of only 12 VDC pulsed.
A must is that both wheels and track has to be real clean of coarse.

Here comes a photo of the Critter ;)

That definitely looks nifty. Unfortunately, I don't have any old running units to convert!

 WHEN is Life-Like going to re-power and re-tool the F40PH? This is LONG overdue! I hope Life-Like IS reading this, the new KATO Genesis is GREAT, but what are we Mid-70's to Early-80's modelers supposed to use? My old LL F40PH's are long past their prime and a ready for the scrapper! A new switcher is good news [IMG] , but let's get the rest of the LL fleet up to snuff!
