I have an email from the owner of Island Modelworks that they will have Silverliner IVs out this summer, singles and pairs, with licensed SEPTA decals. I asked if he wanted me to post about it and he said sure. He also mentioned plans for the newly-arriving Silverliner Vs.

Island currently makes HO Silverliner IIs, which can still be found operating especially at peak commute hours ... at least until the Vs arrive in strength. But for those of us who want to stay current, the new cars will be a great boost.

I also noticed this recent post about Silverliners too. I don't know the manufacturer of these but I'll look into next time I'm in Philadelphia.

So good news all around for SEPTA modelers these days!

Disclaimer: I have no connection to any of these folks. I'm just a Philly electric fanboy who's happy to see more present-day models.

If you're looking for SEPTA and Philly-area models, IHP is your best bet. IHP has been in business since 1993 and making commuter, transit and traction models and kits since 1995. Our reputation for high quality is well known in the hobby. We pay attention to detail and accuracy of the miniatures we produce, and also to the casting quality of the parts. Production is all done here in suburban Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

    See our website below:

See our forthcoming Hyundai/Rotem Silverliner V in HO scale below:

    http://ihphobby.tripod.com/hopages/hosilverliner5.html

These will be excellent models, superior in every respect, and we aren't even finished designing them yet! They are being made for SEPTA's store, and Rotem will also get a few. Display and prototype models will come first, with the production run in time for Christmas. They will be a SEPTA store exclusive, so if you are interested in ready to run Silverliner V models, contact them to order.

Our GE Silverliner IV MU models in HO scale were developed from meticulous research of the originals, from top to bottom, over a period of 20 years. I personally am a fan of the cars, so doing them to the nth degree was a natural decision.

The Silverliner IV is available for the HO modeler in several versions to fit any budget:

1)The Standard series kit, which has correct underbody, roof details and all body details for the single or married pair versions. They have cast metal GSI General 70 trucks with 33" wheels, tinted windows, an interior, a dummy metal Faively pantograph, and PC-style number decals. Unassembled kits are sold nonpowered. This kit is intended for the true discerning modeler and are the best Silverliner IV kits you can buy.

2)The new Express Series Silverliner IV kit, which makes use of the highly-detailed Standard Series body, underbody and parts, but is simplified for easy construction and marketed at a lower price, with plastic nonpowered trucks. They are designed to help you get a fleet rolling quickly on a lower budget. A single unit is available now, and a married pair is coming.

3)COMING SOON: RTR Powered Silverliner IV models, in both single and pair versions. Models will be painted silver with black underbody, trucks and detail painting, flush-fitting windows, body and underbody details, metal Faively pantograph, and our own drive mechanism developed especially for these cars. Prices will be reasonable, too!

We've been offering a Silverliner III (St. Louis Car Co. 1968) since 2005, and we will be reissuing this model with the new drive mechanism described earlier.

CAD work for our Budd Silverliner II is complete and once some of these other Silverliner projects are done and shipped, we will make those available powered and RTR, as well. The Budd cars have also been meticulously researched and expertly rendered. We felt they deserved no less considering their 45-plus years of service.

In addition to the commuter cars, we make other Philadelphia-area transit vehicles, including subway cars, trolley and LRV cars, and interurbans, even PATCO cars. SEPTA-licensed and approved decals are also available for these and other models. I invite you to take a look at our website and our overall selection of quality models. You'll find something you'll like and at a price you can afford.

    Thanks,

    Mike Bartel
