Has anyone received there new roadrailers yet? I have some on order and was hoping to get some reviews. I saw some at the local hobby shop and was impressed with the way they looked but the owner hadn't had a chance to run any yet. How do they perform, and how much are you guys having to pay for a ten pack? I have seen prices anywhere from 100.00 to 140.00. I know you all will have good responses so thanks in advance. Bryan
I was able to see the test product at the Fullerton Rail Days. I am impressed, but I'll wait for the Swifts to arrive. Rio Grande Hobbies has them for $99.95 per 10-pak ------------------ Keep on Track'N at www.phcomputing.com Harold Riley
Can't wait to get by my local hobby shop in the morning to see if the roadrailers are in. Does anyone know which paint scheme(s) has/have been released? Triple Crown will do but I really want the Ice Cold ones. ------------------ Richard Life long N-scaler! Long live BNSF!!!!!!
Appears only the Triple Crowns have been mentioned so far. The Swift's are in the not-to-distant future. Gary.

Picture this, two Kato Genisis units, 10-15 Kato Superliners with a half dozen amtx roadrailers trailing on the end. It is about time N-scalers had modern passenger equipment. Thanks to all the manufactuers who finally listened to the paying customers.
I sold off all my Amtrak stuff, and since I don't invest in brass, I thought I would never see an Amtrak train on my layout. But with these products coming out, I will rethink my plans and add passenger stations! Amtrak is bak! ------------------ Mark Weiher Trainboard Member #60 Frequent Visitor to The Loop ATSF/BNSF Fan & Modeller
I heard there is a problem with Amtrak license. So the Swifts maybe next in line. Also, since the major cause of the delay was technical and not painting, there should not be a long lead time in getting additional raodnames to market. ------------------ Keep on Track'N at www.phcomputing.com Harold Riley

Nice pics, all I can say is that I am green with envy. I am still waiting for mine. Also, Nice layout I am very impressed. I got a chance to see the prototype triple crowns close up while shooting our new video this week on the bnsf mainline in KS. I took some pics to help me model them more effectively (weathering and such) I will share them when they are developed. Bryan
On October 20th, BNSF announced a partnership with CN to "Create Seamless RoadRailerTM Network Linking Pacific Southwest with Montreal and Toronto." Looks like we'll have to ask deLuxe about another paint scheme! From the BNSF press release:
quote:
FORT WORTH, Texas, October 20, 2000 — The Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway Company (BNSF) announced today it has implemented a service agreement with Canadian National Railway Company (CN) to create a seamless bimodal RoadRailer network linking Montreal, Toronto and the United States Pacific Southwest (California and Arizona). Service began on October 16. The partnership expands BNSF's Ice Cold Express service beyond Chicago to Toronto and Montreal over CN lines. Pacific Southwestern shippers of fruits and vegetables can now reach consumer markets in the most populous regions of Canada with efficient and direct refrigerated RoadRailer (or ReeferRailer) service. "The demand in the Midwest and Eastern Canada for fresh produce from the Pacific Southwest is significant, especially during the winter months," said Steve Branscum, group vice president, BNSF Consumer Products. "Through this BNSF-CN partnership, we can now give growers and grocers access to new markets with a true truck-competitive transportation alternative." In addition, this partnership also expands CN's RoadRailer service into the United States Pacific Southwest. Montreal and Southern Ontario shippers now have access to a seamless, 3,000-mile RoadRailer network into Southern California. "Shippers of retail products, food, beverages, automotive parts, packaging—anything that fits in a traditional dry highway trailer—will benefit from the new service between Central Canada and the Pacific Southwest," said Mark Lerner, CN director of RoadRailer services. CN and BNSF are using a common terminal in Chicago. This results in improved transit times, eliminating the need for cross-town draying of trailers over congested highways in Chicago. BNSF and CN both use 53-foot Wabash National RoadRailer trailers and bogies in unit train service. The slackless RoadRailer technology ensures a smooth ride. In addition, the ReeferRailers feature state-of-the-art technology for temperature control and satellite tracking for real-time status reports.

Ed Harrison ------------------ Ed's Mental Cab Ride

WOW! What a nice train indeed!! I have one NS locomotive (SD45....high hood) and it does the job just great! This by far is the best running train I have ever had, I have NOT had one derailment yet, and I can back the train up with no problems at all. Also, the coupler bogie is very nicely done and the cars come weighted very well. Great cars! ------------------ Craig Martyn Best Looking Models Around Custom detailing AND N scale detail parts. I got a set of 10 a couple of weeks ago and all I can say is WOW! These cars great! I waited to get mine at a good price but I also know where I can get a hold of at least a set or two at about 150.00 per. I know it is high but I guess if the demand is there... So if anyone really wants a set now and doesn't want to wait let me know. Bryan
