I have some exciting news! In correspondence with Harald Freudenreich, better known as "FR", I have acquired some exciting info on his future and near future releases. Harald Freudenreich's website! http://www.fr-model.de/ *Next PS2 Release- "CSX Transportation" - The shells are already assembled and painted. The shells are going to be pad printed this coming Monday, 30 July, with final assemblies coming soon after that! The CSX PS2 will come in two different reporting numbers. Photo of a painted shell! Excuse the dark image! Photo of what the pad printing will look like! In the past, the model runs of CSX have sold out faster than expected. If you model CSX or would just like to have one of these works of art, I suggest you contact Harald to put your name in the hat to get one, two, or maybe more! *Special PS2 Release- "Western Maryland" - This is going to be a special release for the model railroad online dealer, Case-Hobbies! This is a contact email address for Case-Hobbies peter.scheele@case-bielefeld.de This is a photo of an actual WM PS2 so you can see what the paint scheme will look like! http://www.trainboard.com/railimages/data/506/FR-WM.jpg These Western Maryland PS2's will only be available from Case-Hobbies at the above web address. They will be sold in sets of two in a large clear case. (the case is the same as the case FR packages the Gunderson Maxi III sets) *September PS2 Release- "Aurora" - For September, Harald is planning on releasing the PS2 in the Aurora paint scheme. The Aurora will come in two different reporting numbers. This is a photo of what the Aurora PS2 paint scheme will look like! http://www.trainboard.com/railimages/data/506/FR-Aurora.jpg --If you have an interest in any of these PS2's, I encourage you to contact Harald Freudenreich or Case-Hobbies to place one of these beauties on hold. *Special Release- "Waddell" Coal Hopper #103 & #104 - Uncle Will Wright will soon be receiving two new releases of the famous, and colorful, "Waddell" coal hopper cars. From what I have heard, these are wanted items. Selling out PDQ. This is a good thing, except if you have missed out on getting one in the past. If you are interested in purchasing one of these, or two, or more, you might want to contact Uncle Will and place them on hold. Uncle Will can be contacted at: dewaal28@aol.com Check out his info page at: http://sbiii.com/fulthrtl/fulthrtl.html *Second Release Coming Soon- AMTRAK Phase II F40PH - The first release of the AMTRAK II F40PH was a quick sell out. Harald has decided to make a second release of this popular, and most needed, F40PH in the famous AMTRAK Phase II colorful paint scheme. Photo of the first release! http://www.fr-model.de/images/products/us/120-3.jpg Harald has not set an actual date for this release, but they have already started on them so the release is coming in the near future. If you missed out on the first release of the AMTRAK II F40PH or you liked the first release so much that you want another, I suggest you email Harald and get your name in the hat for one of these too! --Now, this is the last time I will say this in this email, if you are interested in any of these fine hand crafted products, I suggest you contact Harald, Uncle Will, or Case-Hobbies to place an early order to ensure you get one, or more, of FR's fantastic masterpieces! Hobo Tim
Tim, I placed my order already. I coun't pass up on a CSX rolling stock. Maybe you should be marketing, because you are doing a great job in promoting new items for all the z scale manufactures.
Searching for detailed Z scale! If you are a collector of Z scale, you should keep an ever watchful eye on Freudenreich Feinwerktechnik "FR" for short. There newest release of the PS2 three bay covered hopper in CSX paints cheme is awesome! Just ask the many people who own them. John, in Florida, has already posted photos with his CSX hoppers! (Your Yard is Growing like Crazy John!) The few items I have of FR's are awesome. I do plan on getting more in the future! Another 5 unit Maxi III sounds promising! Go check out his website! http://www.fr-model.de Bookmark that link! We'll catch ya later! Hobo Tim
I think! I think FR should have released the CSX in the White PS2 version! I think they look better. I have never, to my recall, seen any of this version on the rails. BUT, that doesn't mean it isn't a beautiful car! If I had one to play with, I might just re-paint it yellow and make decals for the Washington Grain Train! That is one hell'uva colorful PS2! Hobo Tim!! p.s. Anyone else have any of these PS2's please leave comments!
TIm, This car is accurate. I saw one of these CSX PS2-cds the other day here in Columbus. Harald got the color right! I had to order one after I saw the real thing. Rob
Rob, Tim didn't say they weren't accurate, just that Harald did not choose the most commonly seen livery. I would have to agree with him on that. I see many more with the white/light gray livery here in Virginia. I've never seen this orange/tan version except in photos. This color does look good and stand out well. I also see other schemes as well, including many where the cheap paint that CSX uses has worn off and you can see predicessor liveries including Chessie and NYC peaking out from underneath. Another future project for me. ;-) I also see more graffitti on CSX cars than any other RR. I once saw one car completely covered except for the X in CSX. Randy
FR is changing the line-up! This is a message I recieved from Harald the other day! "Due to the current release of Micro-Trains class GP35 in SOO-Line paint scheme we have changed our schedule. The AURORA grainers come later. The next release coming end of this month is the PS-2cd grainer for SOO-Line. The cars come in sets of two in silver/blue paint scheme and black and yellow print." I have asked Harald to send me a Photograph of the paint scheme so I can post it here. When it comes, I'll post it. Waiting with anticipation! Hobo Tim
Since it says "CSX Transportation" and has SBD reporting marks, I gather the prototype for this car was painted between Seaboard's name change to CSX in '86 and the merger with Chessie in '87. This was a short time, and not a lot of locomotives or cars received CSX Transportation paint. A manufacturer rescheduling product releases to correlate with another manufacturer... Certainly intelligent marketing, but also a sign of how little is still available in Z (in this case, a shortage of pre-existing SOO equipment).
SOO Paint Scheme Sample! I have recieved a photo from Harald this morning. Here is his proposed SOO paint scheme! Comments???? Hobo Tim
Which was more commonly seen? I have several archived photos of SOO Covered hoppers. I don't have the paintscheme withthe green, but I do have one with the blue! Here are my photos: Doesn't look like a PS2 I believe this was a more common used paint scheme! Any comments? Hobo Tim
FYI ... the Soo Line cars are a 2-pack (1 box 2 cars) as is this one: which can be purchased from http://www.case-hobbies.de for approximately €153.75 euros or US$195.87
It's nearing the mid-October Harald Freudenreich will soon be releasing more US Z scale! If I recall correctly, this month he will be releasing the 2nd CSX run of his Gunderson Maxi III's. If you are in dire need of one, you better contact him to see if he can squeeze your order in. I have a BNSF release of FR's Maxi III set. They are awesome! One of my prized possessions in Z scale! ---------- If anyone reading this has a CSX or BNSF Maxi III from FR's first releases, please post messages and photos here! Thanks! ---------- Have a great day/week! Hobo Tim
I'm SUPPOSED to have a set of the CSX on reserve, but probably should contact Harald to confirm again. I was SUPPOSE to be in on the LAST run, but never got his notification. I'm looking forward to seeing them in person.
One Set Left! Harald Freudenreich contacted me today with info that he has one set of SOO PS2 Covered Hoppers left. If you are interested, contact Harald Freudenreich at fr.model@t-online.de Better hurry! Hobo Tim
