We've just updated the website here at Mark 4 Design. New products include conversion kits to produce a wide variety of GP38-2s, GP39-2s and GP40-2s using the Atlas GP40-2 as a starting point. The kits include wire grabs that fit into pre-formed holes and etched metal radiator grilles with visible fans underneath.

Still patiently waiting for the PRR X23 boxcars, Mark, and hopefully the FGE R7 reefers after that!

If the GP15 plans include a non-inertial filter GP15-T body, I'll be in for at least one of those, too.

Can't wait for a GP15... needs to be a full shell, less cab though. would be perfect to fit on a GP20 chasis

It would, if the GP15 had a 31' wheelbase and was about 56'2 over couplers.... it doesn't though.

They have a 29'9" wheelbase and are 54' 11" coupler to coupler...

What part # would be correct to make a Santa Fe GP39-2? I am looking into ordering one of the 39-2 shells but don't know what one I need.

Depends on what unit number your looking to do... there are three shells that match ATSF GP39-2s... 127, 129 and 131.

If you look at the roster posted on the GP39-2 product page, you'll see the three Sante Fe post-77 orders, along with thier as delivered numbers.

The orders are categorized by year, with the features column to the right denoting what features were on that order, i.e, ERDB*, this feautre is also in the part description.

So if you want to model Sante Fe 3696, built in 1980, with ERDB, you'll need a 80-82 ERDB long hood, part # 131

I realize this is somewhat confusing, if you need any help, drop me a line at robbfisher@gmail.com

I'll be glad to help you get the correct shell.

When you purchase the shell what do you actually receive?

I'm guessing the shell minus the walkway and railings?

Which model would i need for a MOPAC GP38-2?

What you get is the long hood, drop grabs, fan grab and etched grilles. The Atlas GP40-2 shell is used to supply the sill/walkway, handrails and cab/glazing.

MoPac bought their GP38-2s in 4 batches. The following should assist with selection:

    http://www.mark4design.com/html/n_gp38-2_long_hoods.html.

We are looking into some interactive "virtual kitbash" tools so that the user can select options and the image will update in the browser.

On a more general note, I plan to be at the convention in Brisbane in September and will also visit Sydney. It would be good to hook up with Australian N scalers and find out what models they would like to see produced.
