As seen on the HPS last night: BN 7041 is a chopped Snoot, SP&S 45 is a (proto, 1 of only 3 SP&S owned) stock custom SW9, and BN 266 is another stock SW9. (painted from pics of the real BN 266)
Nice to see the pre-merger loco! What is a "chopped snoot?" I know what a snoot is... Was the prototype wrecked, and then the nose shortened when repaired? Boxcab E50
Chopped snoot, you ask? No, BN never had snoots, but this one was a Kato SD40-2 Snoot *plentiful on ebay, and gives a decent model of a mid-production SD40-2*and I chopped the nose to reflect a real mid-production SD40-2, BN 7041. Here's how I did it: Snoot chop topic
Now that Rail Images is back, here's some new stuff I just got done. The pic is on a friend's layout. BN 6772/6734: Kato snoots, chopped/superdetailed. The railImages album has the full size pic. Jeremy's album
Good to see that the heat in your upstairs train room didn't stall all progress! Any chance that there are more photos of the friend's layout? Boxcab E50 [ 12. September 2003, 20:01: Message edited by: BoxcabE50 ]
Spotted the place where your recent rojects photo was taken. I like his long wood trestle. It's a style few people seem to build. Boxcab E50
I Also built some Mid production SD40-2's but instead of shorting the nose, I just lobed off the snoot nose, and put in its place a Atlas GP40 or SD60 nose, or a Kato GP30/35 nose. THe Kato nose's fit much better then the Atlas nose's, but the Atlas noses are alot cheaper. Kevin D Mumaw LCPL USMC
