I bought a digital camera today so I thought I'd share a few pictures of the track I've been laying/turnouts I've been doing. http://members.shaw.ca/paul_davis/MRR/photos.html#8nov2002 [ 09. November 2002, 06:29: Message edited by: Paul Davis ]
Paul, Looks good! You done well on the hand layed turnouts! Something I'll never try! I like building the structures, and the loco's and rolling stock.. I just do the simple way out in the track department! Besides, I've learned, I can make pre-fab track from Atlas look almost handlaid so... What alittle ballast and paint weathering can do! Anyway nice work!
i have always wanted to do my own hand built turnouts, but my track laying is not exactly my strong point........ my main lines look like a lightly used yard track in need of heavy maintance Also i never have the time to do them, but they do look so much better than stock ones.
Well actually they're not that hard to build. This was my first attempt at handlaying ANY track so I think it's turned out quite well. It definatley is time consuming but it's great being able to fit the turnout to the space rather than the space to the turnout.
They also cost a lot less than buying them. I figure about $2.00 in materials. Since I don't value my time as much as I do my money, that is a bargain. Now if I had to pay myself it would be a lot cheaper to buy the prefab ones. David
