Finally. I finished the complete review and updating. The new Operations pages are at http://www.wvrr.ca/ops.htm Enjoy. Dave
Dave, that is excellent! The pictures and descriptions are great. Good to see the thumbnails with the text, then click for the big picture May copy that for my model railroad website
Great site. I enjoyed it! We are about to embark on our first attempt at G-scale garden railroading soon. The track is ordered and on its way. Looking at your site has given us a few ideas.
Thanks for the comments guys. I hope you continue to find at least something worthwhile. The 'text with thumbs' works for me because I hate having to open pictures to find the story. I guess I have to get back to real work for a while or I'll have nothing to put on the fall "what's new" page. Dave
I read the abbreviation CNoR. And was thinking it stood for Canadian National. Just realized I am probably wrong. My Canadian RR history is a bit weak. Is it actually Canadian Northern? Boxcab E50
You got 'er. The CNoR was the largest component of the 'new' CNR, out West at least, and so very nearly all the structures were already in place. These became CNR standards even as new ones were built. There are at least two very good, authoritative books on CN stations and both recognize the 3rd Class depot plan 100-29 as symnbolic of western Canadian development. Many are now museums. See http://www.mhs.woo woo woo.ca/docs/pageant/23/railroadstation.shtml Cheers Dave
Nice link! It's good to see the names Bohi & Grant associated with that text. I can be assured of accuracy. Loss of the RR depot has been harmful to most railroads. They don't comprehend why the public lacks knowledge of railroading. Or doesn't care for a RR. Or even why business shifted to trucks. Well, it may have saved money for the RR, short term. Long term, it's a big loss. When they closed the agency, and tore it down, they've now disconnected themselves from that community. As a lover of depots, especially the rural wooden station, I miss seeing them in so many towns. They were my reason for pulling off the road. To grab a bite of food, a little gas, etc. Now, I don't stop. Those shops don't get my business. Another loss for the town. Boxcab E50
