Wow thanks BC , me too !!!!!!!! We will test run some locomotives this weekend in anticipation !!!!!! Mike
Thanks but I get pretty slow once the scenry starts. This layout is intended to be pretty generic with scenery as we have guys who model all parts of the US and roads and we do not want to exclude anyone. There will be a mountain at the 6" elevation but the rest is up in the air (so to speak). One member wants to do a Union Terminal on a leg off the main. Mike

You folks are making some good progress. Interesting to see how your line drawing compares, with added terrain and spurs.
Thanks BC , we are pretty pleased with the progress. We will never be a prototype big club but we DO HAVE FUN. Mike
Well, we are making great progress so far and the county is now in charge of the grounds. It seems as though the county will do some exterior repairs to the building and help us as they are able. http://www.las-cruces-model-railroad-clubs.com/html/n_scale.html I would like to take a moment and thank all of the people who have contributed funds and products to our layout. Mike
Here is the latest news and pictures of the club. http://www.las-cruces-model-railroad-clubs.com/html/n_scale.html Mike
Looking good Mike !! I love all the real estate you guys have to work with. Lots of track and nothing looks crowded. I am envious of all those long sweeping curves too.
What is it with New Mexico and N scale? You have two major model RR e-tailers in the state, and both of them specialize in N...Maybe it's because the state's name begins with "N?"
A club in Great Falls, MT had a similar situation. A large building, rent free all year in excahnge for daily running during the state fair. It is the largest club layout in MT, and most of it is handlaid. 12x72', it's a beast. Good luck!
That sounds cool! Us with only 6 members and 0nly a couple with the track laying skills we went with Unitrack. We would have still been laying 200 feet of yard track !!!!! We actually could have had the other half of the building but for the few of us it wa too big an undertaking. We may wind up with it anyway for storage. LOL Mike
