I saw that company advertized in the new N Scale Railroading. I just couldn't find a URL to a website.

    Thanks

I saw the link in MR and contacted them about prices and kits and so forth. Unfortunately, unless there's something I'm not aware of, Alan's trailers are a better buy.

Well if your talking undecorated kits your right. But I think the price in the Model Railroader is for a decorated trailer, and looking at Curtis hobbies website, Matt is doing the decorated trailers for $20 each US which is about the same when you figure that Matt includes shipping in his price. NSI doesn't give any indication on their website if the price quoted in MR is for a decorated or undecorated trailer. I hope Matt checks out the site and gets inspired to do the Roadway scheme, (hint, hint). I would like to see the quality of the NSI trailers, hope thaey have been paying attention to Alan's work! They appear to be a slightly different prototype than the ones Alan makes, (this is good!).

The reference in MR says they are "kits" and include decals for $17.95. NSI was at a local train show here a few months ago and they were selling the finished product for around $23-24 I believe, plus tax and/or shipping. They were nice looking models....I probably would have bought one or two but I still have two unfinished AC versions at the house so I promised myself I'd finish those first. The price difference is negligible and both are very nice models so I believe this purchase decision falls into the "it's a good problem to have" category. :D

    In other words....

<font color="336633">I would like to be able to do Roadway (and the new Yellew) but there are no decals available for these, I contacted them about permision to have some custom made and had no reply.

At least Microscale finally has the overnite ones back in stock again. [IMG]

Do I understand that these are cast in pewter? Surely they would be a bit heavy for using on piggyback trains, which is why mine are in resin.

    Alan,
I have to agree that pewter would tend to make the trailers quite heavy, (for rail transport anyway), plus I have some older cast metal 28' trailers made by S&S and I'm not real fond of the quality of the castings. Of course I wasn't so picky, but then your trailers arrived and changed all that... :D

    Matt,
Rail Power products has decals available for their HO 28' trailers, which are made for them by Microscale. I think you should keep after them, if RPP can get them to do decals it shouldn't be that big of a job to do them in N scale for you, at least one wouldn't think. Let me know if I can offer some assistance, perhaps I could contact the owner of RPP and see if he would devulge his contact at Microscale for you. ;)
