I agree, very nice but I am afraid that I have never had dealings with LBF. Does anybody know anything about them or even have some of their products? The price is in the range of M-T's and wouldn't want to pay that price for an inferior product. Any info appreciated. Russ Hoffman Valley RR
Russ,if you own or have seen any E&C shops cars you know their quality(or lack of).E&C=LBF. By the way LBF translates to Loads By Fred.
I had heard that LBF would be doing their HO models in N scale as well. I would like to see the cars done Harold
Russ, I have 3 LBF 65' mill gons that are pretty good detail-wise. I didn't pay retail for them, about $11 each I think, I shopped around online, can't remember where I got them now though. I was impressed that they had MT trucks and couplers installed and were assembled. Perhaps I'm just more easily impressed in my old age.... 2slim
I own 3 of 65' gons and 50+ of the Trinity Aluminators and can honestly say I'm happy with the quality of their product. The coal load that comes in them leaves allot to be desired but due to the fact they are equipped with MT's trucks and couplers I can't complain to much. You can find them at most of the bigger stores at a discount price. Brian
Not entirely true, LBF bought out E&C, then redid their cars to a much better standard. These 50' high cubes are going to kill me. They are EXTREMELY common here in the New England area (notice half the roads are New England roads - BAR, Can-Am, and CP-CN-CSX who are here as well, and I have seen the NOKL and LW cars regularly too). I just ordered 12 of em, cause I can get a better deal that way. [ 27 January 2002, 02:23: Message edited by: Harron ]
I have not seen any of the LBF cars in person but that HI Cube looks great in the pic. Guess I will have to get a couple. As for the old E&C cars, I have a few of the mill gons and am happy with them. I also have some of the rotary dump coal hoppers. These cars are okay but do seem to lack a little in the detail department. However, they are good runners so I am not going to complain about them.
FYI LBF has now posted photos of the new BN and CP N boxcars on their website http://www.lbfcompany.com/images/5501n.jpg http://www.lbfcompany.com/images/5511n.jpg eNjoy
Overall thumbs up. But in my opinion only, it is close to a micro trains car and price but the package or box to say is very cheap(my opinion). Almost a micro-trains car/price with a old bachman box. Cars are very nice! Expect more of a box for the price.
Box? These aren't collector's items, besides, they are bringing out a new N scale box for this release. I could care less what kind of box it comes in, since it is pretty much going to go right on the layout. Plus I have a portable storage tray I would use anyway. As for the interesting roads, as I mentioned, it is primarily a car found in the Northeast. Can't wait to get mine in.
