    Greetings.

I have read many posts asking the manufacturers to build this locomotive or that locomotive. What I am offering to do is to run a survey of Train Board forum readers to find out what you would like in the way of new locomotives, to keep track of these requests in the form of a database, and to rank the choices from most requested to least. Here is what I have come up with: Voting should continue for a specified amount of time (30 days?). Each forum member can only vote once, but can vote for up to three locomotives. Please include specific model numbers and road names (or undec) for your choices. Incomplete entries will not count. Your first choice will get three points, your second two points, and your third will get one point. Should I post running totals after each week, or only after the voting is complete? If you have any ideas about improving this survey, please let me know now and I will change it if necessary. Please do not vote yet; wait until everyone has agreed on the format and I will start a new post entitled "Vote for your favorites!" If you would like to lobby for your choices, please start a new thread. Thank you.

    Mike,

Welcome to Trainboard it is always great seeing new members post for the first time. I believe you suggestion is a good one, have you noticed Trainboard does allow polls to be run as you suggested? It doesn't have a point system though.

If you look back in the N scale forum you will see a similar poll has been carried out.

My suggestion is you base your new poll in a similar way.

Once again welcome to Trainboard if you require any assistance in regard to this site feel free to email me.

    Paul:
I searched the forum using the words "new, locomotive and poll" and found the following: http://www.trainboard.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=9;t=000017#000000
Has there been a more recent poll just for new locomotives? I tried to do this poll on the Atlas N Scale Forum, but was told by another member that they do not allow polls. I was directed here. In trying to do this as fair and scientifically as possible, rather than have a list of locomotives to choose from as in other polls on this forum, I would like users to be able to choose whatever they want as far as new products go. I will gladly keep track of the responses and post the results when the voting is finished. Would also like to direct users of the Atlas N Scale Forum to this site to vote. Dose this sound like it will work?

Mike, I am thinking of a way that may accomplish what you are after using the existing poll format - Make it a multiple question with the first being something like "what brand of prototype loco would you like to see" and list Alco, Emd, GE and so forth,

Then in subsequent questions list the half dozen or so model numbers under each brand name. Then have an "other" catagory for tose not listed and the respondent can list the other in the form of a reply

    I hope this helps [IMG]

    Just a quick note:
I'm in the hobby since 20 years... :D
From my beginning, I wrote to compagnies to tell them to put in every box, a "self-reply" card with a poll to know which locomotive in which roadname customers (the person who make the compagny stay in business) wants.

I also suggested to do only painted but not numbered loco. And supply a sheet of sticker for the Daddy-who-bought-a-loco-to-his-young-son-and-don't-know-how-to-apply-decal :D

Since then, no compagny answered me

Maybe it's because I speak French and up here, in Quebec, my English is so bad :D :D :D [IMG]
