I've done a little work on the scenery at the loop - here are a couple of new shots I took tonight. Dave
You still need some wild life to make the scene complete. You know those wild and crazy foamers with cameras crawling about. Looking good.
Excellent shots Dave and the scenery is excellent, have you posted pictures of the overall layout before?
Great shots Dave. In the background I swear I see the faint reflections of Cab Forwards, San Francisco Chief's and San Joaquin Daylights.
Hi Dave, you have a cool Layout!!!! I am also a Tehachapi - Fan!!! Where you from??? Do you live closed to the Loop? In California??? I would like to see your Layout real!!!
Dave, Do you have a website, or host pics somewhere? I would like to see more of your layout, Excellent work!
I agree with the above sentiments. What did you use for the terraforma? It is really good looking! Russ
Thanks for the comments guys! Here's a pic of the overall layout - you can see I've still got a LONG way to go! The area on the left is Modesto & the California Central Valley - I'll have the MET trackage down the middle of 9th Street, and in the very rear left will be the Sierra RR and a sawmill. You can see more shots on my Railimages account. I use the cardboard strip/hot glue method to get the terrain in the correct shape (I try to get all the cuts/fills/hills/etc to be as close to prototype as I can). Then plaster, a mix of various shades of latex washes, and different blends of ground foam. I used to railfan this area alot when I lived in Modesto - I dont' get out there as often now now that I live in the midwest (but I've got a basement at least!) Eugen - COOL layout! Excellent representation of Caliente! (fyi - Eugen's location is 20 miles west of my location (Walong - 'the loop') in real life). Mike - the Dash 9 is doing fine. It makes an occasional appearance on the layout when I feel like turning the clock forward several years! Dave
Dave N, like said previously, the scenery is really coming along and looks good, thx for the pics and keep it coming!
Here's one more - a westbound SP manifest coasting down over the 5th crossing, while a Santa Fe pig train climbs the loop toward Mojave in the background. Dave
