Dave I asked you long time ago to please make us some modern over the road tractors. Although Kato has beatin you to it, there are still others you could do like Kenworth and Freightliner and I know you could do it better. Kato does not seem to take their vehicles as seriously as they do their locos. You have so many trailers I don't know why you don't make a tractor to pull them with. Also, I'm sure you would just sell us the tractors if that is what we wanted (like Atlas does). It's a shame I have to order and pay for a cantainer and chassis I don't need or want.
We [The N Scale Intermodal Store ] received stock today. Shipping on Friday. Photos in a few hours. I disassembled the chassis to 'explore' The wheelset is 'repositionable' for when you extend the chassis. More in a bit ......... We've added close up photos of the tractors in the product listing: N SCALE INTERMODAL MODELS +GKr0Jsxxyj+NBOUtrXjZ and comparison photos and close up photos are on the Geenlight Intermodal website. Nice models ! These will find lots of uses. Steven
Ditto what Glenn said. Dave I would love to see DI do any modern tractor. With the level of detail you put into your trailers I think they would be great. I dont care which one you do,Kenworth, Peterbilt, Freightliner,International,Western Star, any would be welcome. Also, when are you going to release the blue CSX container? Wasn't this due last year? BTW, thanks for all of the intermodal stuff you have done. I model modern so your products have helped my layout a BUNCH! Jeff
Glenn and Jeff, I would love to bring out a modern tractor in the next few months but there are too many other projects in development to start that too (not enough spare capital.) Once the situation with China improves we have new factories lined up and will do it. Jeff, The blue CSX container is caught up in the whole China problem, it's delayed like so many other projects. Glad we've been able to help with your modern theme. Dave
M B Kleins is showing them this morning 10-9-09. Not very many, and I think they will go like hotcakes.
Thanks for the info Dave. I ordered my Volvo from Chuck at Feather River yesterday. Thanks Chuck. Jeff
After checking them out abit, I like these sets. The container chassis is extenable for all lengths of containers. The wheelsets can be repositioned and easily come off for repainting of the chassis (you'll need to drop a dab of glue to hold it back on). Add some decals, details and these will come to life - and we have needed more RTR chassis in N scale. The Yard Goat tractor and Volvo cab look Great. The Volvo cab 'looks' right paired with Atlas trailers. I can't wait to see what kind of kit-bashes we will see from these sets. A+ Regards, Steven
It photographs pretty good. I think with a good paint job and a few highlights it would look nice. Inobu
Body is really nice I think the problem in is the front wheels. It need to have a two piece look like the rear With a little effort this can be a class piece. goat oddly the containers look plain but are made like the others(CN,EMP....) I guess its the color that throws you off. Inobu
I saw these on the KATO website a few days ago, they look pretty neat, and i think they will be a big hit for the N scale Intermodal Modelers, which looks like from this thread they already have been lol Im not sure ive ever seen a Volvo cab like this with a 2-axle configuration. I know ROADWAY has Volvo 2-axle cabs, but those are day cabs without sleepers.... BTW, nice yard tractor!! Athearn is doing them, only in HO scale so far though
I have to agree. I've never seen a two axle Volvo with a sleeper. One thing I have seen was a very cool Volvo three axle bobtail truck, complete with a full sleeper. It must have been 30 or 35 feet long, with a liftgate on the box. I was back east somewhere, never see those here in Cali.
LOL Carter, i know the KATO one comes as a 3-axle, I was commenting on Inobu's post, he was saying that it should have a 2-axle configuration instead of a 3-axle configuration. And looking back on his post again, im not quite sure what he was saying after re-reading it LOL. Inobu, were you saying that the front cab axle should have 4 tires like the rear axles? Or did i get it right the first time that you were saying the cab would look better with 2 axles instead of the 3?
Does anyone know if the curved part of the rear of the cab is correct? I imagine there would be an exhaust stack or something back there. The pogo stick in the cab is very strange. I don't know if that was suposed to be a steering colum or not. Overall, they are about the same quality as the Atlas Ford tractors. Not as nice as the Athearn cabs, but not as expensive either. With a little paiint these could be very nice.
Maverick, Yes the PWRS Canadian Tire containers are caught up in the whole China mess. The delay started when they added the 2nd 2-pack then got messed up from there. Dave
The front wheels are printed only on the top of the rim, I used a fine line silver Sharpie to extent the color to the bead of the tire, much better looking. Bob.
Josh, I think Bob Horn "nailed" what Inobu was trying to convey. Extending the color of the wheel rim to the tire bead would really help the appearance of the front wheels. Hopefully mine will be arriving soon so I can try it for myself. Carter
