Surely you aren't converting to HO or some other foreign gauage are you? I do not have a layout at this moment in time. I recently moved out of my parents house and into my own apartment. I dont have the room for a layout at this time. I am not converting to Ho scale....LOL I actually converted to Nscale from Ho scale. I am selling those engines because I an kinda strapped for cash right now and desperate times call for desperate measures I am not even close to giving up on this hobby I have 3 other engines and a few frieght cars that I am going to hold on too.
Since you can't have a layout of your own right now, you might consider joining a club. Could be either permenant or modular. W/ modular you can build & operate your own small section (e.g. 2'x4') in your apartment. Either way you go you'll find the help you can get from fellow members more than worth it. Check w/ you local hobby shops for clubs in your area or try the NMRA club directory.
soup1279, welcome to Trainboard! Even with a small living space, you can have a decent layout- and N scale is ideal for small spaces. So until things get better, don't give up, and take the downtime to look up some plans for small layouts. When things improve, you can start building. BTW, I'm a convert from HO to N, but I still have most of my HO equipment, and run it on the club's HO layout.
