    Hello,

I live in Eastern Canada and am slowly building up a ALCO/MLW roster for my Freelanced Prince Edward Island Railway. I am going to model from 2000+ as well as three other real local short lines. I don't have a layout yet but I am working on a small room so I can build a "L" shaped 2'x10' by 2'x4' shelf layout.

    Welcome to TrainBoard!

Please keep us posted on your layout planning. It would be good fun to see a plan as it is developed.

Hi PEIR. Welcome to the TrainBoard, glad you're aboard. I envy you your ALCO/MLW fleet, they are beautiful engines. My wife and I were on Cape Breton Island, NS in September, 1996, in our car with the windows open next to a sizable railway yard. There was a double-headed ALCO (MLW?) set shunting right next to us. Naturally I didn't think to reach for the camera resting between us, but just sat like a bump on a log listening to their wonderful stack talk. They were a beautiful gloss black with a rampant lion on their sides....gorgeous!

    Thank you for the welcome.

I am still doodling to try and have something realistic and busy enough where I won't get bored with it. I'll post a plan when I get further along.

Thank you for the welcome Hytec.

I have considered almost every diesel model made from the 60's to present day for motive power and when Bowser released the C630M I knew what direction I was going to go in. I picked up three C630M's, five Atlas C425's and one brass C430 for the line. I am considering a couple of MT4/6 slugs of ex Conrail lineage and I am on the hunt for a couple of Atlas RS11's to convert into ex CN RS18's.

You probably saw a pair of RS18's. The CBNS had a sizable traffic base but the last few years it has dwindled considerably. The MLW's were done by 98/99 and EMD's ruled the line since.

I am also going to model the CBNS. I have two C630M's and two Proto 1000 RS18's decorated for the line as well as a fleet of coal hoppers and gondolas. My freelanced road shares some similarities with the CBNSpaint scheme. The carbody is going to be navy blue and all letting, stripes and numbers are going to be yellow with a lion off of our provincial flag. I can't post pics or links for three days but I will update this thread with a picture then.

Thank you for the welcome Charlie. I used to travel down your way a couple of times a year but didn't pick up a passport yet so it as been a few years since my last trip. I want to make a few trips to see the DLW, WNYP/LAL and Steamtown so I should get my rear in gear.

PEIR, welcome aboard, and I see you have been busy searching many of the forums we have available here. Good for you, as there are a lot of fallen flag forums, photography and railfan forums as well as the modeling forums. It is nice to see that you have many varied rail interests! :tb-biggrin:

I have been looking at near everything on the forum Fritz. My interests are varied and my latest projects are going to be five C425's of PRR and possibly NH heritage. I just need to be creative when I rewrite history when I get my roster finalized:mbiggrin:

I think a Canadian Passport is still less than $100. They were $87.50 but I think they went up a few dollars. :)
